This was the top Witch Doctor build for Season 10 and is the top build heading into Season 11. Even though there are many guides out on this build I wanted to focus on how this build does damage and the proper way to play this build in solo greater rifts. One of the top complaints during my Witch Doctor workshops last season was people struggling to do damage with the build. The LoN build requries pattients when using spirit barrage. The real damage of the build is the phantasms granted by the Gazing Demise offhand. The barber just causes the explosion of the phantasms. The longer the phantasms are down the more damage the do and the larger the explosion. So what you want to do with this build is cast spirit barrage every 3 or 4 seconds, and you only want to cast 3 at a time and no more. It's a fun and powerful build that can take sometime to get geared for.

This build revolves around as much attack speed has you can give it. It does use area damage. It took me all of last season get this thing geared with the right rolls so paragon priorities really were never a problem. On core max out movement speed at 25 and the put everything else into intelligence. For offense focus on your crits first then attack speed. For defense get life first and then armor or resist all depending on your gear needs. On utility focus on life on hit and resource cost reduction. We dont need area damage for this build.
Build Guide
I've been working on this build. It's very hard to gear for. I was running Helltooth on SC regular and have started Season 11 working toward this Spirit barrage.
Thanks for the clear explanation.
One question: did I hear you correctly? Run with Strength gems solo but Intelligence/Topaz in groups? I've seen some running with Dexterity also.
Thanks!
?Is there a link to group variation? or what changes would you ?
For solo run with strength gems and for group runs go all out damage. The monk and barb will keep you alive in the group meta runs.
I dont have a link to the group variation but for the changes I use andariel's helm and cube the mask of jeram. Groups will not need the belt of transendance. Skill wise for beginner runs with the group build I change your piranha skill to wave of mut and for passives use rush of essence, confidence ritual, gruesome feast, creeping death, and swampland attunement
Thank you very much!
Does this build still work if you dont have all ancients?
I'm using Haunt->Draining Spirit for now, and I'm still strugging to keep my mana up for my Aquila Cuirass. How do you do that properly, because normally I should be using Haunt->Poisoned Spirit?
Still, it's a very fun build. I'm missing 2 ancient pieces and doing GR75 with 5 minutes left.
ok, but how do you keep your mana > 90%?
I have that passive but still have the problem. So do you only hit big mobs? Do you channel or cast several pets? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
UPDATE: It's well explained in the video. I'll try that later on.
The build takes advantage of a weird "glitch" between the phantasm rune for spirit barrage and the legendary passive on the barber. You are correct in stating that the barber says it does damage after you stop casting. You can only have out at a single time 3 phantasms. That is why I said cast 3 times. When the phantasms are down you will notice they are constantly rotating and doing damage (casting). So, when you recast the next 3 phantasms you cause the "after you stop casting" effect on the barber to apply causing the explostions.
The reason we don't want to let the phantasms expire on their own is because of min maxing damage. You are starting the next rotation of damage before the last explosion. Letting all expire just means having to start at 0 again.
In Solo belt of transcendence acts as a meat shield for you. Since you cant run unity you need something to help mitigate the damage you take in the rift. Your fetishes help distract enemies. It is not for DPS purposes. Only survivability. And you are correct on Stricken. It is solo play only.
My current build for Season 11 does not have full ancients and I have cleared greater rift 95 in the 4 man in less than 6 minutes. My DPS is only 1.5 Mil sheet and I am only 800 paragon.
Will I benefit more from using a Andariel's Visage than from using a Witching hour?
To translate into numbers:
Does 20% Cold dmg is better than 50% CHD+1000int (you need to lose the 1000int on the helm to have the 6 CHC...)
Edit: I just heard your comment in the video regarding the usage of visage when in group missed it the first time....
Hello there, i builded the fire build on for this set. Any recommendations, i dont see any1 using it on the ladders. I would use it for groups, what can you tell me?
You want to get all 3 phantasms out then channel. As the phantasms stack with your phlebotamize, when the pop its huge damage.
You can spam sb around you to slow enemys and cause mini explosions, also helps clean trash.
Is life on hit worth having for this build? I have it on my Lakumba's instead of Vit.
