Build Guide
Hello guys!
First of all i am not a big fan of Shield Bash in general, but i know there's plenty of SB players out there who really enjoy the gameplay. So in the absense of optimized SB builds out there, let me help you with this guide.
This is the second version of the build and it uses all "basic" shield bash things like the Flail of the Ascended, Final Witness and Justice Lantern + Unity.
Back in the day, we had no Flail of the Ascended, so we used Furnace + Piro Marella instead. It was quite an easy, straighforward setup. Now it's a little more complicated.
What's the difference with the Offensive" version?
1) High block chance, around x4 more sheet toughness (HC viable)
3) Around 25% less trash damage, and 75% less elite damage. This looks like a big difference, but since you don't die much, the gameplay is much smoother and the uptime is much higher. So the difference is not as big as it seems. I cleared GR83 with this build and GR85 with the Offensive version. It all greatly depends on the rift.
4) We don't have indestructible, and so, can die from one-shots. Not HC friendly, but still viable!
5) We can drop Finery for Indestructible, but will immidiately lose 15% of damage + ALSO 10% less toughness. (can do for HC)
6) Dropping Hold Your Ground for Indestructible will be the same 15% less damage + ALSO 54% less toughness! Absolutely forbidden!
7) Gogok can be used instead of Esoteric if you don't die much.
8) The gameplay is very smooth since we don't use generator.

Hey Roleplayer, awesome work as usual. Just had a question regarding shield bash builds in general. I'm running a holy shield bash build with the shattered shield rune and the other following skills/equipment: punish - fury and the rest of the skills referenced in your build, along with: full rolands, endless walk, drakons lesson, string of ears, blood brother, justice lanturn, and piro marella. Gear for the most part is 95% completely augmented for optimal stats. For the cube I have: flail of ascended, Aquila Cuirass, and CoE. For legendary gems I am running: Bane of the Stricken, Bane of the Trapped, and Bane of the Powerful. I am currently Paragon 500(maybe a few more levels) and can clear GR 60. I thought maybe with your experience testing builds that you might have a better idea of what GR level this build would clear at higher paragon levels (1500-2000?). For paragon levels I'm emphasizing: CHC, CHD, RCR, CDR, movement speed (up to 25%), life%, All resist, etc.
Trying to find a holy damage build that will clear high GR's (like 90+). I know blessed hammer is the "go-to" but I really like the game play of shield bash and heavens fury, but haven't had much success pushing higher GRs with either. I'm working on getting more paragon levels but I don't want to waste my time on maxing the builds if they're not even guna get to GR lvl 80. Thanks for your help.
Nice approach with the Holy rune, but it does much less damage than physical rune. I really like your setup btw. Blood brother is an overkill though, as you can't surpass 100% block chance. And with blood brother, 10% block chance will be wasted. Right now Flail of the Ascended is bugged and it does not take COE buff into consideration. And i don't see a fix coming either. So the build is very crippled
LoN Holy Machinegun can do gr80 but it's a struggle. Akkhan's Microwave build can do gr80 with augments and good gear.
Easiest GR80 for holy (other than hammerdin) will be classic Sweeper with holy rune.
Thanks for the feedback. Without hardened senses I was at 90% block chance, so it was a little overkill but I just really liked the blood brother buff after blocking. Shield bash was just nice cuz I could dash through GRs til I got to an elite/champion, focus it down, while taking full advantage of endless walk the whole time. And for my build I replaced provoke with punish - fury, due to not enough up-time on provoke. Oh well, decided to just sell out on Hammerdin lol. I watched your build videos referenced on your sweeper build last night and the comparison of lightning vs. holy vs fire runes for sweeper. Toughness on lightning was just no comparison so I decided to just go with hammerdin. I played it before on the xbox one version of the diablo so I know it is super strong, but it just felt real mainstream. I would do holy sweeper but I feel like it needs one or two better legendary items to support it to make it more viable. Like a legendary bracer that buffs your toughness/damage proportional to how many enemies are within 10 yards of you or something (for gathering sweep). Might try Akkhan's at some point. Thanks again

So it is commonly reported that Endless Walk doesn't work with Flail of the Ascended/s Shield Glare damage.
Do you still recommend this setup? If I have a good Hellfire Amulet (Indestructible) and a good Stone of Jordan, would that be a good option instead?
