Build Guide
Video shows GR94 @ 17k INT (near end of season 9 clear). Old video from PTR testing: https://youtu.be/GvUH_UsIkjg?list=PLsBZISJpoL0I1rZLcEc1Q5jQ1QKzkW8qy
We slot high AS + Pain Enhancer to hit increased breakpoints.
Tal6, Endless Walk, Deathwish, OID, Mantle of Channeling, Trapped, and Audacity make up the bulk of your damage multipliers.
Taeguk is great for the extra damage boost. Typically MH doesn't proc immediately when engaging enemies, so dropping stacks isn't so bad of a thing. The idea is to clear the rift faster, spend a little more time on an RG (RG with adds like Saxtris would be king), but overall spend less time in the rift compared to having Stricken.
Aquila is placed in the cube for extra damage reduction. With OID, Tal4, Mantle of Channeling, and the Halo + APD combo this makes for a very tanky build. LoH on weapon / bracer adds nice recovery.
Resource is managed with many sources:
- RCR on Shoulder, Paragon, Topaz, and (possibly) source.
- APoC
- MW:Conduit
- +Max AP from paragon and source.
These allow you to keep up Aquila at all times, even on single target.
Blizzard: Snowbound is used to assist in PE procs, keep up the Tal4 bonus, and is great for helping proc Trapped at range. Feel free to sub whatever cold spell you prefer though, as this is fairly optional.
The RCR roll on source is not 100% required, VIT is a good alternative if you feel fine with Aquila buff uptime. Same thing with LoH on bracer vs VIT, I prefer the LoH for the good recovery.
Another potential swap is to go without MW:Conduit, and slot FN:Bone chill or ST:Stretch time. This would give more damage, but at the cost of having to need density to keep up your Aquila buff. So, this is more of an advanced option.
Alternate boot options include Ice Climbers (Utility), Nilfurs (more damage) or Boots of Disregard (more recovery).
I tried this build. I suffer greatly from mobility, unlike the other build that you are constantly teleporting. which is very nice.
I tried keeping it, but the lack of survivability form the ID orb kills you fast.
Is it true that Arcane Torrent procs Paralysis more than Electrocute?
Hi:
Just wanted to Thank You for taking the time to post all of these MH variations here on Dfans. You and the other Wizard heavyweights have done a yeoman's job of theory-crafting all of this, as is obvious in your lengthy thread on the official Wizard forums. You have made life much more pleasurable for those of us who don't like the Archon spec. Cheers and Good on Ya!
Yes you have to use the Illusionist passive to get around, which is adequate considering it's such a tanky build. The Aquila + OID combo is nice. My advice for when your OID drops is to look for density, and teleport in their midst. You'll get more DR from Halo + APD this way, and it will make up for the loss of your OID stacks (temporarily).
I've also added LoH to this build recently. I recommend going for ~30k on gear, 10k from paragon, so ~40k LoH total.
IMO Arcane torrent builds will surpass electrocute in GRs, but only by about 3 GR levels (not by much). They both are great options.
AT can maintain higher tick rates than electrocute, whereas electrocute can affect more enemies with the chains. They both offer different, but good playstyles.
Thanks cmacq! Glad you're liking the alternate choices. Archon is powerful but can get tedious maintaining archon uptime, and managing the extra spellbar.
What is your preferred Follower and its gear?
Getting a feel for this build after play four or so hours on it. Have ancient gear except for the tal rasha wait which for some reason refuses to drop. Using the Deathwish Ancient etc. 11500k int and 822 Paragon points.
I find that I am constantly out of arcane resource. I am using the arcane torrent to generate dmg and trigger procs between blizzard and explosion but I soon run out in all but enourmous packs where this is not such a problem. I find that during Grifting I rarely have packs large enough consistently enought to justify this because of running out of resource all the time.
What am I doing wrong?
Recommendations for RCR and Max AP are in the guide section.
Did you use MW:Conduit?
APoC on source?
No reason why you shouldn't be able to keep up AP with all of these things in place.
Maybe provide a link to your character?
I tried this build its not working at all for me. I cant keep Aquila up in any way without adding a lot of arcane power on crit and resource reduction. Arcane torrent eats through all the acane power in mere seconds. its very heavy. almost impossible to keep it up without Hergbash Binding. or catering every single item to resource cost reduction which would sacrifice more damage and thoughness. very weird. The build works well on paper, but very hard to implement.
Need to try a few more times, but so far not as fun as electrocute build. that one rocks hard.
Hello.
I am korean.
i use ur build....
It`s good..
But i dont know mean...this word.
OID.
RG
APD
APoC
PE procs
What is means?
OID = Orb of Infinite Depth
RG = Rift Guardian
APD = Ancient Parthan Defenders
APoC = Arcane Power on Crit
PE = Pain Enhancer
Note: Added boots of disregard as an alternate boot slot option. Offers better recovery, but we lose out on some mobility with this swap.
Hi - I'll try and give advice.
I'm assuming you've got an emerald socketed in your DW, that's pretty important. You'll also want life% on shoulder / belt. You'll want to find a better Tal helm. The one you have isn't optimal with not having VIT or LoH. Get a Compass rose with Attack speed. Doesn't matter if all it rolled was AS + RCR or AS + LoH, those are adequate to start out just look for max AS. Long run you really want a better one though.
As you can see on my toon right now I've rolled RCR on source, as I prefer the higher RCR, and I've got Amethyst in pants. This is something you can opt for too, though how you have with the VIT should be good most of the time, this mostly just makes the difference on single target.
Playstyle - I generally spend a little time up front grouping and herding mobs. I run with Ess of Johan on the follower too, so I try and position him where that would work out well. Try to engage near a killable elite too (one with favorable affixes). There are alot you can engage with this build which is good. Kill little mob near elite to proc Oculus ring. Hopefully it's nearby the group, stand in it, proc PE with Blizzard / AT:SD, and hopefully get a lot of damage on the elite (focus elite down). After elite dies, you can clean up some of the trash then move on.
I try not to stand in Oculus ring procs that are too far away from the group. If they at least have some mobs around, then might be worth doing, but I've been focusing on maintaining my PE stacks more as of late.
RGs you want to look for are single target that don't bounce around a lot. RGs like Saxtris, Man Carver, Hammelin, and Perdition are really good for this build. Bloodmaw, Orlash, Crusader king, bone warlock, Perendi, Stonesinger are pretty good too.
RGs like Agnidox, Rime, Ember are really bad, and can potentially ruin your timebox.
Mostly when you're pushing at your highest level, it comes down to getting good rifts. There are only like 2-3 mob sets that let you progress at the higher end, and only 1 when you cap out up top. The map spawn also is a factor, you really want to look for the Drowned Temple (larger map) with Cultist / Berserker / Hellions. If you get a shorter rift level as a starter map, and it's bad, just skip it. Check level 2 and see if it's good.
I typically spent anywhere from 20-50 keys in progressing from GRs 88-92. On 92 i think I spent 50 keys.
This is the group build I run -
[2.4.3] (GR90+) Tal AT:SD Manald Heal DPS Group Build + Guide
so far cleared 99 in 4 man. It works better in 4 man, for 2 and 3 man you might have to swap out the Primus or slow time for Force armor, depending on the group. I typically run with Stricken and take the role of the gen monk, though in 2's and 3's you and lower speed runs you might run with Taeguk.
Hey, mate! U wrote me on youtube thats buid is nerfed, and now just play for fun, not for push, so, few questions
1) %elemental damag is needed, lightining?
2) If not this build, what the stronges build for Wiz now without Archon and no DMO Twister?
Wand of Woh Tal? Wand of Woh Firebird? Firebird Generator or this buil with AT:SD?
