Hi there,


Introduction

Almost 2 years ago I tried to build a viable Frozen orb build. In 2.4.1 I finally managed to clear a GR 75. Although I have failed to clear a 77 on the PTR (2.4.3), it its still performs very well. So, for everyone who wants a little bit of nostalgic action (D2 Frozen Orb), this build might be the one you are looking for. This build was made to push GRifts, however, it should be clear that ranged builds (like this one) will never be on top of the wiz list.


Playingstyle

Try to pull as many enemies as possible with energy twister and cast slow time @ the enemy. Then before shooting with orb use 3 times magic missile to gain the triumvirate buff as well as F+R. After that cast out some Orbs. Meanwhile, cast slow time again (this time on your location). Use Magic missile once in a while to reset the F+R as well as the triumvirate buff, as well as to gain arcane power more quickly. Try to sync with CoE as good as possible, because this will give a major dmg boost.


@Astral Presence: This build came up before the re-editing of Power Hungry. Nevertheless, i can't recommend PH, because it seems to be bugged (after countless of testing I failed to see a 30% dmg boost; but maybe thats just me)



The right handling of this build might take some time, but you will get used to it :).


There are of course drawbacks with this build. It is hard to escape critical situations due to the lack of teleport. To maintain the time limit, you need to push constantly foward, which is rather risky if you haven't killed all of the enemies.


Alternatives

If you try this build in T10 - T13 you might want to replace magic weapon with teleport to gain more mobility. In this case, you can replace Astral Presence with for example illusionist or just cube AW isntead of furnance.


If you dislike energy twister you could use Black Hole (BH) instead. I personal prefer ET, because it pulls all non-elite directly to one point. BH on the other side can pull Elites too, but has a CD and doesnt pull to one point. Nontheless, BH works without Ranslor.


Instead of Esoteric you could use Stricken or Bane of the Powerful if you have no survival issues but lack dmg.


@Amulet: A good HF amulet is best-in-slot. However, every good amulet does work with this build.
