You do want Heart of Iron or Aquilas Cuirass in armor slot in cube. Diablofans wont let us select it. If you are lucky with early Ring of royal grandeur, you can use both, or one of them combined with hexing pants for more damage or leorics crown for more CDR. If you dont die, go for more damage, and if you die, go for more defence...

Rings and amulets are wide open. You can use anything. A physical stone of jordan will give you a big damage boost. Justice lantern will give you nice defence boost. Convention of elements is a given. Anything goes. A hellfire amulet with a nice passive is the best way to go, but anything can be used in this slot. Aim for decent stat values.

You need gold? Without disrupting too much of the builds efficiency, you can equip Goldskin chest, Kymbos Gold amulet, Goldwrap belt, Avarice Ring and Boon of the Hoarder.

The key here is to have the 450% damage bonus (600% on ptr) from the 6p akkhan up as much as possible. Combined with Norvalds flail/shield, decent cdr and ingeom, you should have infinite steed, permanent akarats champion and iron skin/concecrate/bombardment up on almost all elitepacks you encounter...

I chose Laws of Hope - Wings of Angels for speed, but you can use whatever aura you want here.

You could use Mortal Drama in cube instead of ingeom, but at t10 a 5 barrel bombardment should be more than enough to kill anything. Double bombard is overkill and you miss out on the speed and momentum you get from ingeom.

As for normal gems, you always want a topaz socketed in your weapon. Early game, this is your main source of thorns. Rubies in armor will give more damage, but early game, diamonds might give more value.

As with all the other thorns builds, weapon damage gives you nothing. Think of your weapons as stat-sticks and ignore the damage. For the end-game LoN weapon, you pretty much always roll away weapondamage to a different stat. This is hard to do and will consume a ton of mats in rolls, so I would not recommend this for your starting Norvalds.

Keep in mind: Thorns NEVER crit. Crit chance and crit damage on your gear has no value at all.

Build Guide

LoN crusader is the most fun build I have played for a very long time in Diablo. I just love the playstyle and how efficient it is at so many levels of play. LoN itself require many specific and hard to get ancient items. The road to get to this fun build and playstyle seems so long.

I've seen many posts on various forums about how to gear up to LoN and what the most efficient pre-LoN build is. So many get pushed in the direction of Invokers. Why? There is no reason why. Invokers is the complete oposite of LoN. It plays slow and is vastly inefficient.

This build here (Norvalds) plays 100% exactly like LoN for speedfarming. It might not speed GR60s like LoN does, but it is almost just as fast for t10. And it is so easy to gear up for. No ancient items needed. No specific rings or amulets. Apart from Akkhan and Flail/Shield, everything is pretty much optional. You might not be able to do t10 right out of the gate, but a couple of torments lower just fine. Get some keys, get your 3 primary legendary gems and up your chip to a decent level and you are fine for t10 speeding.

The playstyle? Pretty simple. Steed around and mow everthing down. Keep Akarats champ up as much as you can. Iron skin before you steed around in density. Drop Iron Skin/concecrate/bombard on elites and goblins that dont get oneshotted by your steed. Nemesis is not required, but it speeds things up greatly together with ingeom. Thats pretty much it.

In season 6 you get Akkhan for free when starting up. Then you only need 2 items to get it rolling.

This is not a LoN guide, so will not go in detail on that. LoN GR push plays a little differently than its speedversion, revolving around Convention of Elements cycles. With Norvalds you will struggle with meeting the proper CDR to get this working. So it is not that great at pushing beyond GR65. I say GR65 since this is where the speed dropped alot and I started to struggle on my own fresh crusader. IF you have the CDR and switch around the gear and skills a little to match the push build of LoN, you might get higher, but this is mainly a build meant for speeding t10...

If you want to LoN - this crus build is the fastest to gear up for it.

(This build has been around for quite a while, and its nothing new. Did not see any written up on this site, so figured why not have something to link to people wanting to know about it)
