Kanai's Cube

  • Blade of the Tribes
  • Aquila Cuirass
  • Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac

Two interesting things about these items. First, Blade of the Tribes in Kanai's Cube worked better than The Furnace because I could spam my shouts to do area damage. Second, Illusory Boots was really helpful while waiting for Furious Charge to cool down -- I could walk to my next target (large mob or elites) while ignoring intervening monsters.

I had to burn a Ramaladni's Gift to put an Emerald into The Gavel of Judgment. Not thrilled about that, but it is a 4400dps weapon, so not entirely wasted.

I didn't have any Legendaries with useful powers for some slots, but I did have 8 Ancient items. I just selected my most powerful item for: belt (Ancient Lamentation), hands (Ancient Gloves of Worship), amulet (Eye of Etlich with some nice rolls). I'm certain there's better options for chest and shoulders, but I didn't have a lot of choices.

Pain Enhancer is a reasonable choice because the build relies on crits, and the L25 power is especially good (in theory -- I didn't see much evidence of it working). Bane of the Powerful or Mirinae would probably work almost as well.

Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac (cubed) is essential for reducing the cool downs, especially on Wrath of the Berserker.

Build Guide

Just wanted to share my slightly unusual HotA build for The Thrill (season 5 conquest requiring solo GR45 with no set items).

By putting Blade of the Tribes into Kanai's Cube, you get two serious damage dealers that also buff and add Fury -- and have short cooldowns.

This build depends a lot on critical hits, including putting an Emerald into The Gavel of Judgment. I had about 30% chance and +250% damage.

The play style that worked for me began each grift with charging to full Fury (shouts and FC) and activating Battle Cry. After that, I used Furious Charge to make distance until I found a big mob of normals or some elites. Wrath of the Berserker, then War Cry and Threatening Shout to rain down damage. Then Hammer of the Ancients to deal most of the damage. If you're hitting too many monsters and your Fury starts to drop, charge it back up and thin the herd with Furious Charge. Once Wrath of the Berserker runs out, reduce the frequency of WC and TS, so WotB has a chance to get the cool down boost from Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac (cubed). This is especially important for the Rift Guardian.

I found that FC ran out occasionally, and sometimes my Fury did too. At these times, the Illusory Boots were brilliant for getting me moving towards the next mob or elite while I waited. They seem to also ignore Wallers.

I found this build to work better for me than The Furnace in KC and Avalanche as my area damage (and better than a non-elemental Seismic Slam build). But to be fair, I did have 8 Ancient items, including my weapon. And I'm annoyed I had to burn a Ramaldni's Cube.

I did GR45 on my first try with 1:35 to spare. I expect I could have reached GR47. The game rated my power as: 939k damage, 34.9m toughness, 1.4m recovery. Without the Emerald, damage was only 720k, and I was struggling at GR43.

Hope this helps someone.
