Build Guide
This is the laziest monk build I could come up with to clear TX or better. I have been able to clear level 50 Grifts by only hitting cyclone strike. Level 55+ if you feel like hitting the other buttons. In TX or lower you can just run around and stuff dies because you exist. You can pretty easily kill level 50 or lower Rift Guardians without pressing any buttons. I recommend it.
The primary ability here is Mystic Ally as enhanced by Inna's set bonus and The Crudest Boots. This gives you every mystic ally in duplicate for a silly amount of bonus damage. I take the "no rune" mystic ally skill to get two more mystic allies and even more bonus damage AND the ability to activate MA for tons of damage (if you feel like pressing the button for it, I guess).
Sweeping wind enhanced by Kyoshiro's Soul, Vengeful Wind, and the Sunwoku set is a major amount more damage and also incredibly lazy, only requiring 1 button press for the duration of a rift or bounty (I know it's a little bit of a pain in the ass but you can press 1 button, I believe in you.)
This build is a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing it.
Funniest build explanation in DF. Thanks....
Why All Resist on gear when you have Harmony?
I changed SoJ to Obsidian ring and Near death passive to Beacon of Ytar to get more uptime on epiphany. Works great. Thanks for a fun and lazy build.
More lazy stuff: I used numpad to autocast epiphany and cyclone strike on right click. This way I have one hand free for the beer!
Simple and fun build. Managed to do Grift 55 solo and 65 in 4-man group
-Fire and Water do Fire and Cold. Cold has the biggest damage % skill and it also does aoe, and bounces, which is why people generally stack cold% on inna's 6piece builds, the damage when you hit your MA active when cold CoE is up is ridiculous. The other 3 are physical, including their actives., (heal ally has no elemental active, since it just heals you.)
-Yes the decoy is your highest elemental % stat. How much damage? See bottom of post.
* Doesn't matter which rune you pick, you don't get any extra allies, and the rune type doesn't make the physical allies become all cold damage, or vice versa. Picking every rune will activate every single ally active, and the no-rune bonus does not work (damage increase by 50%.) Confirmed by Davlok that the no-rune damage boost does not work, in his testing mechanics thread on the official monk forums.
The only rune that differs is if you choose enduring ally, which makes your cooldown of the active increase. So this is bad. As long as you have Inna's (6) and Crudest boots effect, your rune choice makes zero difference. You can confirm on D3planner.
* Your total weapon damage increased by mainstat, crit, and skills, is probably AROUND 1.5 Million, if you have a decent Ancient Inna's Reach. Google if you want to learn out how to calculate this, it would be too messy to write it in this reply.
(1,400,000) * (5.00) = 7 Million damage AoE explosion from clone.
Say you've got 40% cold, and 35% bonus elite damage.... 1.4M * 5.00 * 1.4 * 1.35 = 13.23million AoE clone explosion, before any kind of set bonuses other modifiers apply. By contrast, sweeping wind (before other modifiers and setbonuses) does 2Million damage (per stack). I don't know if we can use this past the 3 stack limit, but it's either 6Million (3stacks) or 20Million (10 stacks), damage for SW Inner Blades at full stacks. Assuming they can go to 10, and assuming Zei's works from YOU and not the decoy, decoys can potentially be doing more damage than SW (excluding crits. Don't know if decoys can crit).
Your next step would be looking in Davlok's threads on battle.net as to whether these can crit, and if Zei's stone of Vengeance affects them by their distance (useless) or your characters distance (useful) from the enemy, and whether they are affected by relevant Mantras and the Inna's 6set bonus. If so, they may do quite a bit of damage.
I don't know the answers to these offhand but if you are truly curious you can find out with what I've given you.
Edit: Unsure if this info would be on a d3planner tooltip of your character imported into it. I don't know that set bonus proc damages are shown. But you may want to check and see anyway.
Edit 2: I wrote this out because the guide creator is clearly lazy. I am not as lazy, but I'm still pretty lazy, so you'll have to find more info if you want the FULL mechanics rundown. tl;dr? Decoy does enough to make this build worth it as an alternative to Generator Inna (6inna + 2praiment + 2shenlong), which definitely requires a lot more watching over to be most effective.
It's a good lazy build.
Sir, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this build. You see I face a terrible problem, one that requires me to play with only one hand. I have a love for D3, almost as strong as my love to drink beer. Finally, I can do both without having to put my beer down to press buttons on my keyboard. What a relief. Thank you.
That's why I came up with it. I wanted to lay on my cot and play diablo with one hand while watching a movie or something.
I wanted gear and wealth for my other builds but didn't want to spend 100% of my focus and time to all of the grinding necessary.
I am clearly lazy indeed.
Can you link a gameplay video of this build please, thank you!
I can guess what it would look like: he runs around, stuff dies.
That's what happens when I do it anyway. Perfect build and perfect explanation. Good enough that I put in all of this effort to type a thank you!
