Since this is a 2.4 ptr build it is not final and not all items are available.

Velvet Camaral and Myken's Ball of Hate are the obvious choices for this build since we focus on electrocute chain lightning. The same goes for the rings, without the Legacy of Nightmare set this build won't work that great.

For the Depth Diggers to work you need "The Shame of Delsere" which increases attack speed of signature spells by 50% and grants you arcana power per signature spell cast.

Aquila Cuirass gives us 50% damage reduction most of the time, only when we nuke a lot it drops since our arcane power drops below the threshold of 75-85%.

St. Archew's Cage is nice since it gives some extra defense, it works great with the perma stun this build gives. Whenever a elite/champion or boss breaks from the perma stun and dishes out damage the shield kicks in.

The choice of weapon is personal preference, what I like about Shard of Hate is that it gives me a line of defense. People might opt to use Odyn Son but this is not an ideal choice for the build since it greatly impairs our attack speed which is paramount.

Nilfurs boast is chosen because we have insane arcane power generation with our belt and are therefore able to dish out a lot of damage to single targets by using meteors.

As for shoulders, they are personal preference as well.

In the cube we want Ranslor's Folly or Ancient Parthan Defenders (depends on which you have). The Ancient Parthan Defenders will give you extra defense for every stunned enemy, which should be almost everything on the screen. Ranslor's Folly helps you pull in whites and melt them down, this is where electrocute really shines.

Aether Walker is for mobility but not really necessary if you got enough movement speed. This frees up the Illusionist passive for something else.

Wyrdward is a must, this stuns everything in combination with Zei's Stone of Vengeance and Paralysis; Dovu Energy Tap helps keeping those enemies stunned. By perma stunning everything we trigger Bane of the Trapped.

Bane of the Stricken is quite nice when dealing with the rift-guardian.

Critical Hit Chance
Critical Hit Damage

Choices should be quite obvious, we want attack speed to keep enemies perma stunned and area damage for melting them. If you don't have any LoH on equipment you should focus on LoH before Area Damage.

Build Guide

This build was able to reach rift 60+ without any trouble with only 8 ancient items to boost the Legacy of Nightmare set. This was before the Legacy of Nightmares nerf. The damage output is a lot less now but I think rift 50+ should be doable.

Do note that this is a fun build and therefore not the best choice if you want to achieve the highest rifts possible :P. Legacy of Nightmares in combination with the legendaries mentioned finally gave electrocute chain lightning a chance to work.
