Build Guide

Harness the power of the Demon Hunter's true master discipline, Crossbow(gun) Kata.

- Modern Dramatization -

This build's true power comes from crippling your enemies movement speed with Shadow Power's 'Night Bane' rune, and Marked for Death's additional damage when swiftly applied to enemies with your Calamity hand crossbow.

These two abilities, paired with Cull the Weak give you two sources of 20% damage increase. Additionally, with the exclusive use of Strafe, and Hexing Pants of Mr.Yan, you're dealing an additional 25% damage on top of the 40% from the first two sources nearly at all times.

With your enemies snared, they have nowhere to go but die by your precise bolts, or be eaten by the pack of your ravenous Demon Hunter pets. Did I mention that you have all your pets by your side, managing the battlefield, allowing you to strafe and bring the pain unhindered. With the 4set piece bonus from the Demon Hunter Marauder armor, you have all your familiars at your side, giving you the hatred generation, 20% damage resistance, occasional mass snare, and life regeneration. (You're tough now. You can take a hit... Like they could catch you.)

If that's not enough to destroy your enemies, Strongarm bracers will allow your vaults, which knock back your enemies and stun them for 1.5 seconds, a crippling weakness to take 30% more damage for 5 seconds. So, 20% from being slowed, 20% from being marked for death, 30% from being rocked by your kungfu-ass tumble. Plus 25% for being on the move, shooting every poor sap that even though they could take you on. Not to mention the wolf that's likely chewing on their groin.

If that's not enough to slay even the most toughest badass monster, you've yet to drop your most powerful finishing move. The activate ability on your companion skill, and your Vengeance ability will turn your ass from being the deadliest crossbow kata master the world has ever seen into a god damn weapons platform that would make a U.S. Navy battleship consider rerolling into a Demon Hunter.

So, now you're a heavy weapon's platform with the skills of a goddamn martial arts master, and the aid of a rabid pack of beasts. Add 30% more damage from your wolf's howl on top of all that previous damage modifiers, and cannons blasting through your enemies, piercing through the holes you just blasted and blowing the heads off his buddy behind him. Not even the weak little buggers using their stronger, and bigger brother as a meat shield will survive your awesome power.

Gear Breakdown

You're going to want to use Natalya's for the 3 set bonus; granting 250 Dex, 7% Crit, and 20 Discipline. You're going to be spending Discipline often in big amounts, so you're going to want as much as you can get from any items you can. (That includes secondary skills on items.) That's also where Night Stalker comes into play. You're going to want that Discipline regen.

You're going to want to use Marauders for the 4 set bonus; granting 500 Dex, and the aid of all your companions and their passive bonuses. This will allow you to take much more damage, move faster for strafe, and have much needed hatred regen between battles. The regen will get 25% buff from Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan so long as you're moving.

[Edited] You're going to want to use Calamity to swiftly apply Marked for Death with your strafe. (Apparently Blizzard hate's the concept of Legendaries interacting with your abilities, allowing them to benefit from your runes. Except for M6 of course, because if you're not playing one build, you're playing in the kiddy sandbox, with the milk drinkers.)

You're going to want to use Harrington Waistguard for normal rifts, and normal killing. This belt lets you deal huge amounts of damage with strafe for 10 seconds after opening just about anything. (containers for books and lore items wont count.) You're going to want to switch to The Witching Hour for boss fights (such as Malthael, or Diablo) and Greater Rifts since they're no chests or containers inside.

You're going to need Royal Ring of Grandeur for this build. The requirement reduction for set item bonus is needed to get the 3 set and 4 set bonus from Natalya's and Marauders. I recommend using Stone of Jordan to maximize your Physical damage, since you're going to be using primarily physical skills, and the Stinging Steel rune for Strafe for huge damage for your multipliers.

You're going to want to use Strongarm Bracers for the added damage debuff it applies to enemies that suffer knockback. In the event you get cornered while strafing, or want to deal the extra hurt on enemies, a quick vault with the Rattling Role rune will solve everything. not to mention the 1.5 second stun! A short window to let your pets surround and lock your enemies in place while you strafe the crap out of them. You're going to want to roll 20% physical damage on these babies.

I recommend Xephirian Amulet, or the Talisman of Aranoch, because Thunderstruck, Orbiter, Frozen, and Frost Pulse. Screw THOSE. Also, you're going to want to roll 20% physical damage on either or, of course.

Lastly, You can either use Dead Man's Legacy, or Archfiend Arrows. They're great for raw stats for maximum damage, since there's no good quiver or off hand crossbow that will give you any additional advantage. (Not even K'mar Tenclip.)
