Build Guide

Hi guys,

The cookie cutter Static Charge Monk is very popular and we understand the basics of it with debuffing mobs with Static Charge and wailing on enemies with Fists of Fury whilst dashing every 4 seconds to proc Restraint.

I hate Dashing Strike, I hate that if I activate it whilst not having 75 spirit (or 65 with RCR from paragon) then it will use a charge rather than be counted as a spender and therefore NOT proc Restraint.

TEMPEST RUSH

To eliminate that and utilize a better method of proccing Restraint I have tested this build and it seems very consistent in high GR's.

Instead of using Dashing Strike we use Tempest Rush...this only costs 25 spirit thus you will always proc Restraint and of course it only costs half of Dashing Strike...it also will help you walk through enemies in sticky situations.

BUT if we are not using Dashing Strike as a method to proc Restraint then we do NOT need the 4 piece Raiment sert bonus...we only need 2 piece.

This means we can use 3 different pieces to incrase our damage and toughness.

This build therefore suggests that we use 2 piece Inna along with 2 piece Raiment. This gives us more toughness in 100% bonus to the Mantra of Salvation and a bonus to Mysic Ally.

So we use that...we use The Crudest Boots to increase damage along with the Innas to boost damage and toughness.

The basic playstyle is the same barring using Tempest Rush every 4 seconds to proc Restraint.

ATTACK SPEED

With no Dashing Strike to gain attack speed I run 3 x 7% IAS on both rings and my belt for 21% IAS, 3% from Enchantress and the bonus from the STI passive. When the FD procs your IAS will be 4.5...with this all procced and buffed you will have no issues.

DAMAGE

All the other standard Static Charge builds have 1800-2000k damage per second but as you can see from my video I have near 3000k and with IAS at 4.5 my elemental damage is 8 million. So in dropping Dashing Strike for Tempest Rush I lose nothing but gain in toughness (100% bonus to Mantra) and in dps (Mystic Ally).

SECONDARY'S

I have 6 pieces of gear where the secondary is "Chance to xxx" where xxx can be freeze, chill, immobile or fear...this amounts to near 20% and procs APD in the cube...that along with Spirit Guards and your high Dodge Chance what with Mantra + Inna + The Guardians Path means you will not die.

Life on Hit is required on both weapons.

SPIRIT

No need for Breath of Heaven in this build as you don't need to regen spirit fast...you have to enough to proc Restraint via Tempest Rush and for sticky situations with Serenity and with generating a lot of spirt via generators damage is always high.

WEAKNESSES

In high GR70's the RG or Elite affix of Frozen is a nightmare as if you are frozen you are not hitting meaning no life regen and death will be quick.

The cooldown of the normal Elites frozen is near the same as yours for Serenity so not an issue there but if you meet the RG Cold Snap and he starts to rage near the end of his life then his sudden cold freezing attack can occur faster than the cooldown of Serenity.

Poison in high GR's too is nasty but only if you are against a single target like Voracity as you cannot tank him with hits to recover life as fast as his poision kills you. Epiphany is required for him.

Movement speed is slightly restricted because you cannot dash...perhaps in the very high GR75+ using Dashing Strike to get past mobs quickly you do not want to fight might be critical for clearing the GR75+ in time...I'm not sure on that...in GR70 on hardcore I can still skip mobs but it will be slower to skip since you cannot dash...the thing I find is if I skip a mob pack by dashing twice using charges you need to wait until you have 75 spirit before you dash again to proc Restraint which means you will be fighting a mob without Restraint unless you are very fast. The very reason why I dislike Dashing Strike.

CONCLUSION

Thus build does away with Dashing Strike and uses Tempest Rush as a dual way of proccing Restraint AND getting out of sticky situations.

In doing so 2 piece Raiment is only required rather than 4 so we can use 2 piece Inna as well and The Crudest Boots to get much more damage and toughness. We need to have 3 pieces of gear with 7% IAS to negate the loss of IAS from Dashing Strike.

I'm clearing GR70 in Hardcore with this (swapping Exalted Soul for NDE) and I'm sure if I were Paragon 1500+ like seasonal players then GR75+ is easily achievable.
