Utilizing the very powerful survival gems we now have at our disposal as listed above, we can achieve an excellent amount of magical defense, physical defense and mobility, and regeneration and shield effects. When the gems are leveled to 50+ they will allow for excellent survival capabilities.
Akarat's champion/Prophet should be treated as your 'oh crap' mechanism, trigger it when approaching elites/rares, or if you can catch it in time before procing your indestructible. I previously had Steed here, however feel even with the very long recast for Akarat's, it's still useful in situational circumstances. It also can act as a 'zerg' skill, when needing to dispose of enemies quickly.

Build Guide
With this build Crusaders are able to achieve immense damage through the means of the upgraded Rolands set adjusted for D3 patch 2.2. You can expect to deal up to 1 billion DPS on Rift Guardians, and possibly even higher when certain damage criteria is met.
You will need the bracers Drakon's Lesson in order to achieve the max damage capable. They are a regular drop and can be received from Kadala. Shield bash should be the primary stat rolled on your boots, helm and shield, an Ancient Piro Marella should be crafted.
An Ancient Furnace would be ideal. A regular one is suitable. Blood Brother would also work nicely, use whichever you receive first.
This build is still being tested, however the outcome of this build is looking to be very desirable for a successful Season 3.
Testing of the build can be found on my twitch livestream, over at www.twitch.tv/lynxaria. Questions and comments are most welcome.
