Build Guide
First Build, made it just for fun, still messing with it to see how it works. Not sure how it'll work on GRs but as I said, made it only for fun. It's basically a mix of all the popular builds, but focused towards poisoning and bursting with soul harvest.
Edit: Did some tests based on comments, I decided to remove Locust Swarm from the build since it doesn't affect the spread that much.
I swapped it with Grasp of the Dead as a place holder, but it still need some tests. The thing here is that it has a high chance to spawn health globes wich synergy pretty well with Reapers Wraps if you're still using them. You could also put Gargantuan with Poison or Wrathful Protector rune for the knockups in most cases...
As an additional option, you could keep locust warm with the Diseased Swarm rune, it works fine with tons of monsters but will not do well on bosses or small elite packs with no mobs with them.
Edit 2: As Archonshope noted, you could also use Big Bad Voodoo (Slam Dance) or Mass Confusion (Paranoia) if you like. I've also been testing Zombie Dogs using The Tall Man's Finger (Ring) for the Gargantuan Dog and it works fine as a tank if you're solo playing, but I still recommend Stone of Jordan (Ring) or Unity (Ring) companion combo while soloing, for the increased damage.
Could Locus swarm spell be replaced with another spell since you're getting it from Wormwood?
I don't have all the pieces needed yet, but I run a similar build and opted to use zombie dogs instead of locust swarm. The effect off Wormwood proves more than enough imo.
Yes Locus swarm could be replaced but you would lose the rune skill applied. For example the rune pestilence is applied to your wormwood. If you remove it it will not jump. Hope this helps
It should be ok to swap, the thing here is that wormwood is affected by locust swarm runes, so you can have mass spread, Since you're using jade harvester to consume the debuff. But it should be ok to swap it if you like.
Since Wormwood casts locust swarm every second I've found that I don't lose much spread by swapping out the skill. It'll also save your mana. Additionally, having an extra skill can increase your damage or survivability depending on what you choose.
This is all good information. I guess I will try both with the skill and without and see which suits me more. Also, is the "1 second" cast off of wormwood affected by your attack speed? Will it remain at always 1 second or is there anyway to lower this number?
what about tiklandian helm insthead of this one since we are triggering SH which basicaly deal damage over time instant therefore reducing the timer on it wont change this
Unless you're doing a mixed build (pets + debuffs), IAS does not affect Wormwood neither your dots. So it's basically a CDR/CHC stack, so you can use Harvest Soul more.
Now here's the thing, Creeping Death passive, makes your dot's last for a really long time. Soul Harvest will only consume a portion of that time, not the full thing. So if you're using Quetza when you partially consume the debuff, the remaining time will tick faster thus giving more damage while Soul Harvest is on CD. The thing here is that most elite packs get immune to Fear from Horrify quickly due to diminishing return effects, so maybe tiklandian is not really a good choice...
Damage wisely Quetzacoatl is still the best.
Wormwood's one second cast does not benefit from attack speed or cooldown reduction. As far as I can tell the one second cast is set in stone.
Exactly, but you still need CDR for soul harvest.
nice
The 2 seconds cd reduction are not worth it, you'll lose the 15% dmg reduction or the dmg boost, cause the other 2 passives are required. That's why Hellfire Amulet is a must have, so you should get one with either one of those 4 passives or Spirit Vessel. ;D Works fine.
Those are nice contributions, I'll add those to the build. Thanks =)
what follower would you recommend using?
I really like using the Enchantress, since she can mass turn monsters into chickens, charm them and other stuff, and since you're intelligence based she can benefit from the legendaries you get. Their damage kinda sucks, so I don't really like the Scoundrel, but if you feel like you need occasional heals you could go for the Templar, but he's by far the worst for a WD.
