Head - Leoric's Crown str/socket/cc/vit - Great item for CDR builds
Shoulders - MotE cdr/str/earthquake% and vit/allres - 8% CDR is much more important than earthquake damage
Amulet - Blackthorne str/chc/chd/socket - Why no cold elemental damage instead of str? Because this is multielemental build (especially for single target damage) and also a lot of our toughness will come from boosted armor so str's defensive value plays a big role here.
Torso - Blackthorne str/earthquake/sockets and vit/allres/-elitedamage - There are no really good non set pieces that You can equip in this slot and BT is the only set that can be fit in this build. If You manage to get a good Julia/Hellfire/Star You can just use any leg Body Armor You want.
Wrists - APD is a must have.
Hands - MotE str/cdr/chc and vit/chd
Waist - Pride of Cassius str/vit/life%/allres
Legs - MotE str/vit/allres/sockets
Feet - Lut Socks str/vit/allres and movement/armor
Ring1 - Unity cdr/chc/elite/socket
Ring2 - RoRG str/cdr/socket/ias
Weapon - Stalgard's Decimator or Bastion's Revered. Str and cdr are top priorities. In 98% you will need to reroll damage range or 4th affix to CDR. If You are that lucky to find something with top damage, str and CDR as natural rolls and have to decide between vit or 10% damage I honestly don't know XD Furnace is obviously another option ( and is probably the best damage wise ) but not everyone are lucky enough to find it or lucky enough to not lose it from lagspike/game crash/connection lost :P

Core - it's self explanatory

Offense - Cooldown Reduction is a first priority because it's a build designed for HC and we want to be as close to 100% uptime on "Ignore Pain" as possible. Whichever first from CHC/CHD is up to You.

Defense - Resist All is by far first priority. Life is by far second

Build Guide

<><>< Essence ><><>

This is a variation of coldquake build for Hardcore players like me.

It's offense relies on AoE damage from Earthquake - Chilling Earth.
the support for single target comes from combination of Frenzy - Maniac, Mirinae gem and depends what weapon you chose:
a) Stalgard's Decimator - Up to additional 700% weapon damage as Physical on every Frenzy swing
B) Bastion's Revered - Let You stack Frenzy up to 10 times. That means 12,5% more damage increase from Maniac (25% total) and 75% more attack speed which means more damage from Frenzy itself and more chance to proc Mirinae.

It's defense relies on few things:
a) Iron Impact - This Leap rune gives a lot armor even vs single target. I believe You can easily break 1 000 000 000 effective toughness with good density of mobs and other bonuses (Ignore Pain,Unity,APD). You need and really want 60+% effective CDR to take cooldown for Leap under 3 sec and have this Armor boost all the time. Reducing Cooldown also rise your damage and mobility so it's a triple win.
B) Ignore Pain Ignorance is bliss - This skill is simply so amazing for HC. You need and really want 60+% effective CDR to have close to 100% uptime on this ( with 6sec Pride of Cassius ). Barbarian has no passive that will save You from death so being CC immune is really important. It also lets You heal very fast when used with Battle Rage.
c) Battle Rage - It costs 20 Fury. With Ignorance is Bliss active every use of Battle Rage heals for ~100k HP
d) Earthquake Chilling Earth - Freezed mobs can't really hurt You and Ancient Parthan Defenders provide even more "reduced damage taken" (Tested and they work with freeze from Earthquake)

This build have one skill that in theory is optional and that is Wrath of the Berserker. You can use this offensively or defensively (50% damage increase or 50% reduced damage taken). It's a CDR build that aim for 60+% effective CDR. With Boon of Bul-Kathos uptime on WotB should be around 60%. Personally under those conditions I see no competitive skill that can rival WotB for a place on bar ( even assuming you could replace BoB-K passive with something else ). Beside let's face it... Running (or jumping :P) as SSJ4 with boiling lavaish blood is just too fucking epic >:]

<><>< Playstyle ><><>

Jump, Jump, Jump -> swing, swing, swing -> repeat :)

Most ppl have played leapquake builds and love it or hate it. Most ppl have played fire version tho. Fire leapquake is focused purely on damage. It's usually only earthquake damage without any generator/spender. Common choice for this build is Death from Above rune for Leap because it's the only way to activate APD. Overall toughness and survivability is very poor compared to cold version. For all those reasons I wouldn't use Fire Leapquake for HC.
Why not use pure coldquake build tho (without spender/generator)? Well mostly because that would probably require The Furnace to be superior in term of efficiency and even then it would be much less fun to play imo.
