Build Guide

NEW:

The Shadow's Mantle set is getting a huge rework for the 2.4 patch upcoming which will completely revamp the way we play a Melee DH.

2 Pieces: While equipped with a melee weapon, all damage is increased by 1000%
4 Pieces: Shadow Power gains all runes and lasts forever
6 Pieces: Impale deals 30,000% weapon damage to the first enemy it hits.

They're also adding the ability to hold quivers with melee weapons.

Objective:

The whole point of this build is getting in close and personal with a Demon Hunter, something that is rarely seen on Battlenet. The Bat companion and Preparation are used for hatred management, but if you find that running out of hatred isn't a problem, I would suggest switching the bat to the wolf, and Preparation to Marked for Death. If running out is a big problem I suggest switching Vault to Grenades or Bolas. This build is not for people who like to click minimally, I would rate it high on a scale of micro-management intensity. Basically you need to get into the fray of things to maximize the damage of your Fan of Knives, as well as knowing when to throw off your Impale. Lots of CDR means you can spam your Vengeance and hatred-replenishers often. I take Vault on my left click because its good for mobility and for a long time I had no Discipline spenders, which felt like a wasted opportunity.

Damage:

I've managed to hit a decent marker with my damage, so far but with high amounts of +fire dmg% you can easily add another +100% more...

Obviously its more about the fun aspect, I haven't been able to run this build on the highest torments yet, but I'm working on it. Torment 4 Torment 6 is about as high as I've run. If you have any questions/comments just let me know in the comments! I hope this inspires you to try a Melee DH of your own!
