SEASON 2:
In my opinion/experience this build is currently one of the strongest possible monk setups for competitive greater rift laddering.
Mandatory gems:
Bane of the trappedTaeguk
Third gem:
Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard - Need to test (If you need healing)Esoteric Alteration - Need to test (If you need reduction)
Basic game-play strategy:
- Maintain Sweeping wind- Spread exploding palm
- Vulture Claw Kick to pop exploding palm
- Maintain your spirit with mystic ally on use and Epiphany
- Dash for mobility
Skill variations:
Dashing strike - Quicksilver (T6 Farming)Mantra of Conviction - Annihilation (T6 Farming ~ swap out EP)
Stat Priority:
Helm: Socket>CritShoulders: CDR

Wrist: 20% Fire Damage>ChC (secondary: 7% Melee dmg reduction)
Amulet: Socket>ChD>ChC=20% Fire
Weapon: 10% Damage > 6 Spirit Regen > LPSS > LPH > Vit
you want dex/secondary resist on all your pieces(where possible) & health globe bonus ownz for Mantra of healing/transcendence.
People WITHOUT furnace:
Just use any weapon with the highest DPS/Healing or Run a torch build.FAQ:
Q: Why don't we use Gyana na Kashu?A: Cindercoat makes your LTK hit much harder and more efficiently than GNK.
Q: Does the LTK Dot portion stack?
A: Yes, it stacks perfectly fine ~ but does it not crit, it scales with AVG CRIT (CHD/CHC)
Q: Why am i getting instantly killed g33+?
A: You need Unity equipped, and Unity on your active follower(with a "follower cannot die" relic)
Also! 1000+ All resistance | 16,000+ Armour | 350,000+ Health - Is a good amount to be around.
Q: Does the sunwuko 2 set scale with elemental damage?
A: Yes, the 1000% weapon damage proc grabs your highest elemental damage % then modifies the proc accordingly (all item damage cannot proc area damage)
Q: What gem should i put in my helmet socket?
A: Diamond. CDR = Dmg + Survivability!
Q: What normal gems should i put in my chest/pants?
A: Diamonds until your all resistance is over 1200, Then the rest emeralds(dex gems).
Q: What follower should i use?
A: Templar. Why? Inspire (x1.1 ALL spirit generation)

Hey, thanks for the build!
Just a quick question about weapon stat priorities. Taking into account an ancient furnace that rolled dex, 1300 vit, 6% CDR, would you keep the 6% CDR instead of the vit or vice versa? I understand CDR is highly desirable, even more so if it rolls on the weapon but would going for it gimp the survivability in the long run (higher Grifts)?
Quote from Ascibarasch
Hello, Quin. First time posting. Just starting playing Diablo again this season. Thank you for this guide/build. It's helping me out a lot.
I have a question regarding the three pieces of Inna's and Sunwuko's. Is it okay to mix and match these six slots with three pieces of each? For instance, is there something special about having Inna's Radiance over Sunwuko's Crown? I got a Sunwuko's Crown today, and I'd like to hope I could use it and replace one of the other Sunwuko pieces with an Inna piece, since I got a good roll on it.
I apologize if this is a basic or commonly asked question, but I would be thankful if anyone could answer.
You cant really mix those with crudest boots and cindercoat if you want both set bonuses. I have inna and sunwoku helms both as ancient and my sunwoku is miles better
Seasons: I finally came across an incredible 4200 furnace with 49% elite dmg dex and vit. According to this build I should be able to push 50 GR Solo but struggling with 45. All gems are 40+. Most of my gear is ancient. That being said, find this build very clunky. Movement is somewhat frustrating with the slow aspd of Furnace and LTK with it's ninja flip feels super long ability animation. Gungdo is underwhelming without cyclone. Getting a solid EP to chain in solo GR is incredibly frustrating with the attack speed. That's my complaint, but below are my constructive thoughts.
1. F- Palace > Dashing: 30% dps boost on LTK 50% dmg mitigation.
2. Esoteric Alteration + Taeguk + Bane of Trapped.
3. GR 45+ requires 2x Unity, requires around 30m toughness, 50%+ cdr for good uptime on Ephiphany/FP
Passive changes: I like Sixth, Harmony and Beacon, but I notice I need more damage for high GR. I can't recall but does Unity passive stack 5% per air + templar?
This GR50 claim is total garbage. No way. I would say that you need a lot of points in IAS to make this build play properly. I've switched over from lightning to try this with a very well rolled furnace, a close to max rolled ancient cinder coat and quite a bit of very well rolled ancient gear. While I don't have a templar relic yet, i do have an ancient SWK ammy, rrog and unity - all near perfect.
Quinn - I'd like to thank you for these perfect rolls. I once again trusted you and blew all my souls obtaining them, only to find out you've made another BS claim about a build. See "perma Serenity build" for another great example. Fool me twice, shame on me - but that's it. These are all great concepts on paper, but the game isn't played in an Excel spreadsheet. Here's the new meta boys - quinn is loves to stretch the truth.
Definitely going to agree that this build is not GR50-quality.
With a lightning WoL build I can easily do 42, but with this I struggle to finish 38-40 within the time limit.
The animation for LTK is simply too slow.
I have perfect ancient Furnace in season 2 (4260 dps, dex, vit, dmg) but even with this i completed only 44 GR with build. I guess it will work better with 600 paragon (chc, chd, cdr -> max), but it don't think that it's possible to reach something better 45-46 GR. Maybe i need just skip all elite packs and don't try to explode them with EP, i will try to beat my record after 600 paragon again.
P.S. anyway Ancient torch is better than furnace i guess, Pillar of the ancients is too overpowered.
I think you should reroll min-max dmg to maximize it, 10 cdr is so good and 1400 vit is good as well. You will not get too much dmg from rerolling vit -> 10 dmg.
exactly what nanotech says.
with quins weapon reroll sheet you can get to perfect damage range to 3922 dps and with 10% damage to 4010 dps.
so keep the vit and keep the 10 CDR !
I so far really like this build, but do have a question. I have both the ancient furnace and the ancient INna daibo. i also have a 700% gyana na Kashu.
Why is the + 50% versus elites better then the dmg increase of this helmet.I know the weapon dmg range of the 2 types of weapons differs but still. I am not a math guy so while this maybe a question easy for others i would really like to know
I am using this setup https://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Blackjok3r-6612/hero/57423655 got a 40 in 8:39 already, will try pushing leader boards today, hopefully find a torch though I think that build will be better. 3 furnace and no torch so far.
What is the purpose of the Unity passive in this build if you have no mantras equipped? I am not trying to criticize, just trying to understand?
The set-bonus of the Inna Set (which you will get just by the pieces mentioned in connection with the Ring of the Royal Grandeur) grants you the base effect of all 4 mantras up at all times. No need to have a mantra as a skill.
That makes sense now, thanks!
How does this build generate spirit? I am having difficulty keeping that up.
First of all, you need to have Sweeping Winds (Rune: Inner Storm) at three stacks at all times. Then, of course you spend Paragon points in Resource Cost reduction (NOTE: ONLY to 6,6% - that way your Sweeping Wind Activation can be used to gain stacks of the Taeguk Legendary Gem at basically no cost).
Then, whenever you need you pop your Mystic Ally (Rune: Air Ally) which will boost your Spirit immensely (the Air Ally does boost you Spirit Regen already because you have two of them due to the Boots (The Crudest Boots). When Mystic Ally is on Cooldown (Paragon Points must go to Cooldown Reduction anyway) just pop Epiphany. Should work just fine, but of course it helps to have more CDR on your gear.
