Beta Installer Hangs After Launching Install

  • I have attempted everything else on this forum and am still unable to download the client.

After picking the default installation directory the patcher windows opens and hangs on "Installing . . ."

I have already run as admin in safemode under a newly created admin user, disabled my virus scanner and pretty much every other suggested fix I could find in every possible combination.

I have a second computer (much lower system specs) on the same router also running Win7 64-bit and the same virus protection, and it immediately downloaded without a problem.

The WoW launcher will patch but about 6 months ago it stopped launching the game and hung the system for about 5 minutes from then on requiring me to manually launch the game from the executable.

The SC2 launcher has no issues.

    Any suggestions?
  • Terf,

Do you happen to have a Bigfoot Network Interface card in the computer that's not working?

  • Terf,

Well, since the Wow launcher also has an issue on this pc, it's going to be something on there blocking it still. There isn't too much in common between the two games though.

    Try this:

Please open up Internet Explorer, even if it's not the main browser you use, click on "Tools" then "Internet Options". Now go to the "Connections" tab and click on the button that says "LAN settings". Make sure that "Automatically detect settings" is checked, and that you are not using a proxy server and then click "OK." Try running the game installer again and see if that solves the issue.

  • Terf,

Well, it's going to be tough to figure out what's stopping it without having access to the computer really. Ideally, I'd want to start with a freshly installed OS, then apply all the updates and drivers, followed by the game.

I realize that's not something you're likely to be able to do though.

Can you post your Diablo III Beta Install Log.html located in the Logs folder?

That may shed some light if it was able to start the log entries.

  • Terf ,

That's going to be something to do with permissions then.

Booting in safe mode should have let you install unless something was carrying over. Antivirus apps can be tricky like that. Disabling is often not enough. Uninstalling is sometimes required to get it all the way out. Most AV and Firewall manufacturers have special uninstall programs to facilitate complete removal. Check this link for yours.

Please don't uninstall it though unless you know for sure you'll be able to reinstall it later should you want to keep using it.
